Stupid or what.. You've just gotta ask yourself.. Why.. Why.. Why?

Any other windsurfering crew looking at this and thinking.. You've gotta be kidding..

It's called the Ta'loo-ard paddle sail.. www.facebook.com/TalooardPaddlesail

Next they'll come up with a boom for it.. and a real mast.. and call it something like .. a wind surfer .. or sail board..

yeah pretty odd and can't see that you would move at all fast.

This on the other hand could be a winner...

From what I understand this is produced to be an inexpensive add on to a SUP, and shouldn't cost a great deal more than most of us spend on a paddle. Great for those guys that have a big SUP and want to give windsurfing a try.

That looks cool , could you go up wind with it take the sail off pack it up and turn around and then do a down wind paddle?

I can't really imagine going up-wind.. Even trying to tack or jibe would be messy.. Holding your arm straight out hanging onto that out-haul rope would soon be a pain in the arse.

You would be much better getting one of those new sup windsurfing rigs.. I saw a good Neil Pryde rig yesterday.. I know Starboard also do a cheap sup rig.

No thanks!! He broke both legs in that suit. Maybe try a kite instead of a sail to be comple nuts.

Probably not, It's quite a bit of work to sail upwind on anything other than specialised racing windsurf gear. I don't think a SUP would do it, especially when you factor in that you would be trying to push against swells etc.

But I do know a couple of guys on the Goldy that have expressed an interest in trying windsurfing that already SUP, so a an inexpensive rig like the StarBoard one may be the answer. Of course you will still need a board that a sail will screw into (starboard/JP etc)

Thats what they said about the first windsurfers, I saw a windsurfer for the first time in 1978 in a swamp between Woodberry and Thornton NSW out my bedroom window. Thought it rather strange to put a sail on a surfboard at the time.
Ended up windsurfing for 26yrs
