If we went back in time, 500 years ago, in Australia, and compared......
Have a think about what life would have been like.... maybe add to the list.... it's a slow night !!

Aboriginals - Current day Australian
What they had - our equivalent
--------------------------------------------
Stand-Up Canoe - Stand Up Paddle Board
Smoked Eels - Smoked Salmon, or smoked eels
Sleeping hut - the smallest bedroom in the house
The whole world is your bathroom - the smallest room in the house
Camp fire & stream - the kitchen
Yams / root vegies - potatoe
Native passionfruit - passionfruit
Native banana (I think) - bananas
Kangaroo - Kargaroo mince for the dog ! Or kangaroo strips for stir fry, roo farmed by others
Honey - honey
Aboriginal tick-tac-toe type game - Naughts & Crosses, plus Playstation 3
Hunting and gathering in nature - Work, so we can pay for food
Fish / shell fish - fish / shell fish (caught by others)

* Take a moment to think how today may have panned out for you, 500 years ago, in your part of the country..... Something to think about as you go to sleep tonight !

How about you remove your post Simondo.
Its a sup forum ffs absolutely no need to post
in here,if your that board post in the general section.
You would be aware of the current NRL and AFL racist
comments,so I just dont get your point.

Hi Makaha,

Nothing racist in it at all. Nothing to do with football.
It was only pointing out that our Australian Aboriginals also had "stand-up canoes".
It was also giving the reader an opportunity to think about what they would have been doing, if they were aboriginal.

They had it kind of tough, but from what I've seen in some of the communities, is that have a lot of simple fun. A life less complicated!

Of course main stream SUP posts with pictures, or videos, are more popular.

Too late to delete.

Here's another one for you.

Hey Simon, the guys in Merimbula often talk about Captain Cook's logs that were written about when they discovered the Merimbula coast and they wrote about the waves and the Aboriginals that lived there.. Interesting stuff.. I wonder if they did surf like the Hawaiins and polynesian's?

I reluctantly post this.... general topic not well received !
But there's a short story in this condensed movie trailer, with a glimpse of the past.
Plus, some Stand Up Canoe Paddling.
