We also paddled round to a "secret break" called the Terrace, and rode some ridiculously close to rocks right hander's prior to this. Was interesting, I would like to give it another session in bigger swell.
There's no such thing as a secret break in Sydney
True, but it's more one of those breaks that are mythological. A lot of people have heard the stories of surfing it, but not many people have or even seen anyone surf it. It's very fast, sucky and dangerously close to the rock shelf with a lot of moving water. But I took some mates there some 15+ years ago on bodyboards when the surf was massive & Martin Potter used to surf it back in the day. But I think with SUP's ability to get on the wave early, could make for a gnarly spot to push the envelope.
Just to clarify, I do not recommend anyone to now go and paddle out there trying to catch waves, if you don't make it, you will get smashed, and bad! Please very competent riders only, and make sure you take someone with you, so they can post the story.
There is always places around that not many have surfed or seen being surfed. I have two other breaks I want to ride on SUP that I have never seen anyone surf on but have heard the myths about them being rideable. So don't be too quick to think that Sydney is all discovered!
