yer ditch the arch idea as your feet move all over the place from rail to rail nose to tail well maybe not into the slip zone up the nose for me[}:)]
i find that on steep waves my back foot will be biased to the inside rail when coming off the bottom (sometimes with the toes hanging over the rail dragging in the water) and as you transition to come off the top i will shift it to the opposite side to engage the outside rail
can you arrange a pretty in pink grip for me appsy

. the arch just helps find where ya foot is.i try and go one further like if the toes are hanging over inside rail, i try and have the front foot on the opposite outside rail, hopefully that gives you that fine tuning control
