Yesterday was a crazy day in Vicco. Up for the early before work and the sky was black, thunder grumbling and some radical lightning on the horizon. Had a hunch the weather might bypass this end of the coast as it sometimes does so I grabbed my lightning rod and went for a paddle. Opted out of the lefts on the reef to work on the backhand. Three of us out, all mates, and plenty of waves to go around. Waves ranged from soft to epic but seemed to manage to miss capturing the cream because of poor camera position.
Sun came out wind came up and by the time I arrived for the after work it was stinking hot but again black clouds threatening and a horizon full of lightning. Bit bumpier than the morn and a little less consistant but with a crowd of one....it was on. Lasted about forty mins and then all hell broke loose, onshore blast, pelting hail and fork and sheet lightning touching down all over. Cowered on the veranda of the local clubby shed for the better part of an hour and then snuck home with my tail between my legs. By seven the sun was back out and the wind was offshore.
Go figure
As usual, slightly better quality with the HD option

Thanks guys
Gotta love this time of year, can be up and on it by half five and have two hours in the water before work ruins your day. If the seabreeze hangs off you can squeeze in another session after work cos its not dark until after eight.
Matt, the knee is rooted, old age kicking my arse, but short of a replacement theres not much I can do. At the tender age of fifty one I am considered to young for that particular procedure!!! Oh well, the pain meds are good!!!

Just got back from over your way, took the young bloke to 'surf sessions' with Cam Lampard. Pretty wild and wooly but swell definitely on the up and up. Could be OK this way late arvo if the wind doesnt go too South.
Camera is a Sanyo Exacti TH1 dual. Its laughingly referred to as HD but unless its a cloudless day with bright sunshine it doesnt even come close. This latest clip was suffering from intermittent cloud cover and the odd lightning storm. I also processed it as wide screen for the first time which I think has made it even more pixi and glitchy. Oh well, twas reasonably cheap and I probably wouldnt be leaving something top of the range sitting around in the sand dunes for a couple of hours unattended.
