I just got in from a session on the 9'3", and it has changed me! This board is amazing, truely amazing! I can;'t think of words to describe it yet, so I think I had better go out for another session and try and work out how to explain it to you. This is a level of SUP that is way past expectation. I'll hopefully be back on tonight with some pics!

Calm down JB you're getting way too excited.. ..You'll burst a pooper valve or something..

Pics would be nice.. How different is it compared to the 9'6"?

It's still pissing down and cold and windy here in Melbourne..

it has a bit more wobble but once you get on a wave it makes the 9'6 ride like the 11'6

wooooooohooooooooo!!!!!!!!

very nice

loose yet drives hard

the nose rocker just lets you pull off tighter turns in the pocket

woooooooohoooooooo!!!!!!!!!!

Jb if that thing goes half as good as it looks, it would rip! Pretty much thinking I would be to heavy for it.

Just got some great waves on the 9 6" down the line speed, couple of really good late take offs as well really hard to paddle around, heaps of side chop and wind, seen robdog get a couple beasts on the old kalama as well Some days I still find the 9 6" a pig to paddle against the current with side chop and wind, but once on a wave the thing rips

mate, i wouldnt be so sure on the too heavy thing... Im tipping the scales at close to the ton (damn close actually) and this arvo I managed to snake a quick go on JB's 9'3 when he wasnt looking... and despite reservations the thing floated fine and wasnt that much harder than the 9'6.
I wouldnt use it as a one board solution for my good self, A) because I think I would have a bit of trouble on it in cross chop, and B) beacuse my surfing ability will hold a board like that back.
but if you are looking for a super aggressive, pure wave sup dont overlook this as too small an option. its surprisingly stable, and remained very much afloat with me aboard.

Well, after another session, I confirmed to myself that I wasn't dreaming, and this board really is the full monty. As the dog said, it makes the 9'6" feel like a long board! and thats saying alot as the 9'6" absolutely shreds. The 9'3" is so unbelievably loose but still very fast, and it really surprised me even in the small waves I had in the arvo session. I wish I got some shots of the morning session, but here are some of the much smaller arvo session,,,

A Bomber, styling....

Me getting loose in half a foot...

Still throthing over this board, I thought the level that the 9'6" bought to the plate was awesome, and used this a bench mark for SUP comparision, but now the bar has been lifted so much higher. And at no real sacrifice to stability or ease of use, I barely notice the difference in Stability and we had about 20 knots a cross off wind.

I will get back with some more shots when I can.

Regards,

JB

took the 9'3 out at the local back beach yesterday in some solid waves

looking from the headland it looked 6 foot

after walking 1 km down the beach to get to a rip i noticed the shorey was solid and much bigger than i thought

every thing was looking good so far

got nailed in the shorey then paddled out through the rip steering wide of the main peak then noticed it now looked alot bigger again

as i began to paddle into position i noticed the outside bombie feathering and started to head for the horizon as you have about 45 seconds notice that BIG SETS are coming i paddled over a couple then turned around for a monster thinking hear we go board this is the real test

just paddled over the ledge with the offshore holding me back a bit then the board picked up speed and as i started to draw a line off the bottom looking down the line i then sadly noticed that i couldnt draw a line back up the face to smash the perfect lip that was there teasing me

way to much water moving and the whole way i just hung on to the board as it chattered down the line

again and again i tried to tame it then as i pulled over the back of one i was caught by a wide set and got the biggest pounding and skull drag continued with another 7 waves after that to make sure of the job i went in walked back to the rip and went back out and caught a few more

went in thinking about grabbing my 10'6 that loves waves like that but with a new board i was hanging to surf it some more so i drove to the other side of the headland to escape the swell and went for a paddle in some nice fluffy 4 footers that was sad to say a pleasent change and the board felt at home in it rather than the odd 6 to 8 foot stream train

later i caught up with a few of the boys that commented that i copped the hidding of the day

i agreed with them

as fast as the swell rose it has dropped off again

well thats just great, the one photo of me on the interweb and i look fat...
as you can see the 9'3 can be fun for someone carrying a bit of condition and even in tiny surf.

dog, your not saying you couldnt turn the 9'3 are you, cause from all other reports the thing turns so fast and hard that it catches most people off guard the first few... sambo said he was virtually running it straight back up the face after a bottom turn the other day. Although maybe your just trying to ride a small manouverable board on too fast a wave, you need the NAISH Gun with its long drawn out lines and controllable pin tail...

Dog, please tell me you didn't try riding overhead with those stocko fins in! I noticed they didn't have the drive in head high. Get an FCS us fin box adapter (mal to FCS) and run a good set of powerful fins. I'm going to fun Sunny Garcias or TC Redlines in mine. Even if you just ran some better thrusters, and found a nice 5-6" tail fin in us that was a little slimmer in foil and maybe a big more (a lot more) tip flex. Even on the 10'6", I found running TC redlines much better for speed and riding off the rail a lot more. But there will definitely be a time when the 9'3" gets over sized, she is one looooose little puppy. enjoy. Once I get my fins back off sambo, I'll you know how if feels with the sunny's on it.

WWOOHHOOO!! i finally got the 9'3 off jacko and took it for surf this morning.
It was pretty crappy surf and windy when i first got out there but by the end of my session the waves started to clean up.
Put some L simon anderson fins it the side & the board was unreal.

Got some great rides towards the end of my session and i decided to end it and come home and have some eggs.

Maybe i can sneak it away from jacko again this arvo LOL.
