How did the guy from Florida go who published his videos a while back on this site looking for sponsorship? Forget his name.

I did not see or hear John Browns name at the event, so I guess he did not make.

They still have 6 heats of the trials to run and also the Na Kama Kai youth heat (s) and start the main event. The swell is peaking today and should be perfect for tomorrow to run in big clean surf.

BTW-if any of you guys are here for the event swing by and say howzit! I am in the brown Dodge truck (with a bunch of PSH boards) parked close to the scaffolding.

John didnt make it to sunset. He surfed the honolii contest last year. It was very big and got bigger thru the day. When the contest was called off I think Chuck Patterson said it best I want to be beat surfing and not in survival mode. Something like that.

P.s. My son called it off because his board 7'11 maxes out yesterday in 10 foot Hawaiian and today was wild.

Watched the whole thing live - looked like fun Sunset.

I know nothing about who is or isn't invited but find it strange that no Aussies were in the starting lineup of the main event. I could think of at least 10 guys who would match it with most of the crew in those events.

No disrespect to the guys doing well on the 'tour' but I would hardly call it a 'world tour' without one of the stronger SUP countries involved. That said it would be difficult for many aussies to attend most events due to cost.

Very TRUE Goaty, So many OZ guys would keep them honest

Although i do reckon sunset would be very hard work on a SUP as i've had trouble on a 7.0 gun in 10ft surf with the trades blowing and those west sets cleaning ya up,let alone on a 9-10ft SUP..

Absoulutely, Sunset is a very tricky wave at any size. If the french and brazillians can surf it I know plenty of Aussies who could.

I would prefer a well designed gunny SUP to a 7.0 gun shorty at 10 ft Sunset.

Yeah for sure, i'd love a crack at it with 3 others on SUP, Most of the trouble i had there was with clowns riding 9 to 10 ft shortboard style guns hardly being able to turn them with me trying to get waves from under them on a 7.0ft gun that imo was way more suited to 10ft surf than those waimea guns half of them ride out there..

PS..I have missed the last 4 winters over there so i hav'nt had the chance to paddle the islands..
