I haven't noticed any talk about the 20 beaches this weekend? Are any of the breezers planning to paddle and how are the conditions looking?

Hey Pete , it's on for sure this Saturday. Forecast isn't super good at the moment but that'll change.
Definitely a fair few will race anyway but if the conditions get better then I'm sure more will race.
I'm in for sure though.

Can someone tell me why seabreeze, windguru and willy weather all give us different forecasts? Surely they source their data from the same place? Or do they just interpret the same data differently
Would be good to track their relative accuracy against each other...

Kissa they all source from the bom but enter into their computer model that they have created and then it spits out their own take on it. Well thats my understand from what i have heard.

Wind is about as good as it gets for this run today. Frothing
Straight south with a hint of occasional east. Not nuking but consistent. If you were sitting on the fence (like me) get your arse off it and down to Freshy for the 1pm SUP start.

Well done Kieran! Top effort.

Any details mate? What were the conditions like? How long did it take you? How many SUPs? Who won it?

Who's Nick Malloch? I haven't heard or seen his name in sup racing before - but looks like he was flying!!! Maybe a crossover athlete from another paddle sport?
Dave and Sam going super fast as usual too!
Bummed I couldn't do it this year - after 2 years of pretty average conditions, looks like you guys scored big time! From memory winners have finished in just over 2hr30min for the last 2 years so a lot lot faster this time around!
Awesome result for Terrene too, up the pointy end of the field and beating a lot of the guys too!

Nick's had a background in prone but is just getting in to SUP racing at the moment but I didn't see him before, during or after the race so I'm not sure he even started. He paddles nicely but not faster than Kissa just yet.

Dave was on Bullet 17'4" and did it easy.
Me, Ace 14' x 25".
Chucky on Bullet.
Andy on 14 x 23" Jav.
Steve M on Fanatic 1`4 x 24.75"
Andre on Bullet
Brad on Naish Jav 14 x 26"
Pete Meyer on Ace 14 x 27"
Terrene on NSP/DC.

Epic, epic race! So many different bumps out there.

Big congrats to Chris Ting, AKA Mr VMG who's been paddling for only 3 months or so. Solid!!!

Thanks Sam, it was a bit surprising to see a new name (in the sup scene anyway) 'finishing' a reasonable margin in front of Dave and yourself on your home turf! Well done for yesterday and stoked you finally scored good wind for this race!

Yes, after a slow start, it really turned on .
I counted 29 boards on the start line so maybe the timing chips didn't work for 3 of them as i did not hear of any non-finishers.
Did any one else find the timing out. I started my GPS at Freshy Point (about 2 mins after the gun) but still had closer to 1.50 so wondering if they started the clock a bit too early

OK - off the record, it was just confirmed to me that we started at 1.04 and the official times reflect a 1PM start, so you can take 4mins off to get a more accurate time

Sorry guys, didn't have the opportunity to shoot SUPs this year other than a brief few clips of the start. Actually, I didn't see one SUP on the water the whole race, so widely dispersed, but there were 300+ people on the water somewhere out there. I would loved to have got "Kissa" shooting the big stick! The way "Kissa" is going, he'll be catching the skis soon......

Here is my race video, it's 99% skis with SUPs at the start.

Cheers R
