hi.any body out there in paddle world has a starboard whopper. im interested in getting one for small surf that is as weak as a larger shandy.im a big pom at 105 kg and need float and stability. ta
Sounds like the perfect board. Nice and stable and really fun on waves from knee to head high. You can surf them pretty hard if you have the weight to throw around.
i got one dude.....i'm only 80 kg and i can get the big girl to jiggle a bit. i've surfed it with my 5 year old standing up with me on 1 footers and had it in suckier rock/point breaks and beachies up to around the 3 to 4 ft mark and she loves it....perfect for your weight and its built tuff as and light as hell.....
peace
Just sold one to my good friend and he let me test ride it on it's maiden voyage.
This board is great!! I am 105kg and I took it out in a mushy NE affected point break and had a blast on the 3 waves i got on it.
Never felt unstable at any time in the bumpy conditions, more than enough glide to paddle on, and when on a wave it performed great once your weight was on the tail.
I'd happily recommend this board to any one.
They don't come much more stable than the Whopper. You may get a little more stability by going for something like an 11ft + but you will lose out massively in ease of use and surfability. Also I have heard before that the mc Tavish 10' is fairly tippy for its size. I have not paddled one though.
