I am 51 years old, not to fit and weigh 95kg. I have been riding a JP fusion 10'2 with 175 litres.

I surf 1-2 foot waves on average perhaps a 3 footer on better days. Ilove the stability of the JP Fusion 10'2 so don't want to loose that, but am hoping to find a little more turning ability in my next board. I have paddled low volume boards but find them ok on the flat, but tippy in the ocean especially if choppY conditions. I want to be comfortable standing on the back line admiring the view. I am contemplating the Naish Hokua x32 9'6" surf board shape which is 170 litres or the Naish Mana 9'5 with 163 litres which is more long board shaped. Anybody who has paddled both Boards ?

I am not really a nose riding long boarder, I would prefer to be able to turn without having to run up and down the board, but having some good stability and volume is important.

im open for comments and suggestions. As long as it turns better than my JP fusion 10'2 I'm keen.

As always no boards in Adelaide to test so I may have to just bite the bullet and buy one.

Don't rule out the 9'1" Hokua. It paddles like a much longer board. I would definitely go one of the Hokuas over the Mana though. The LE construction of those X32 boards is rock solid too.

Thanks for the feedback. I have another 10'6 all rounder for the flat water so I'm looking for a wave board, but I generally surf small surf . Will the Hokua still be ok in 1-2 foot mush surf ? Also will the hokua be stable enough to relax when just waiting for waves on the back line ?

Actually, the x32 boards were made for small and mushy surf. Very stable and easy to paddle. I'll post the product vid for you

When I brought my 9.6 last march I also was worried about this problem ...that's why I went with the 9.6 .170 litre .it feels a lot smaller than the literage
Its perfect for my weight ..Q.2 .mush.surf?..due to the rocker ,the nose doesn't get catch up like my 10'.and it is easy to catch white water .a quick change of weight from one foot to the other ,you can quickly correct the direction of the board ...sometimes it feels like it has no fins ,its that loose .
Just my opinion ....but if you want it for the smaller waves I'd defiantly go for the bigger board .Its still got heaps of performance .Q.3 relax .yeah you can relax on it .and you can whip it around real quick to catch a wave .i like mine as a thruster ,a lot of people use them as quads ..at lease you have the option with the Hokua over the mana .......you can throw the Hokua around more compared to the mana, also .It will be different to anything you have ridden Im sure .
I can't stop raving about mine ..go the 9.6 you won't regret it .....it will be a great addition to your collection .
