Does any body out there in the interwebs know where i can get hold of a jimmy lewis 9.7 kwad. Ive contacted all the stockists out there and it appears that there are none of these in OZ at the moment and none expected till July/ august. If i cant find one , are there any good suggestions on fast loose fish style boards that can handle a bit of size and a 100kg rider.

Hey Sameh, I've been sussing out Simsups on the Standup zone. You can get 8'10"s x 33' (You don't have to have them that wide.) custom made in the states and the company I emailed (Original Simmons) said they could ship for between 3-400 dollars to OZ. You can get them with five fin boxes. They aren't a fish shape but they look really loose in the videos I've watched. You need to go to the original company as there are a lot of knock offs that aren't the same due to the lack of R&D on the prototypes. They are certainly not fixed finned! Under 2 grand for a custom board from the states. They are apparently really very stable out the back. If my back is OK I might have to buy one rather than the custom wooden board I'd planned on. (I'll retire with that one.) I emailed them and they answered the next day. Extremely proffesional.(No I don't get any kick back) ( Bugga!!!!!). Worth checking them out to feed your insatiable SUP addiction. You are the Keith Richards of surf SUP purchasing. Besides if you buy one I'll get an honest review on how they go.

thanks Leroy, i think i may need to order one. Ive seen them reviewed on the zone and they look pretty interesting. Only problem is im running out of places to store any more boards. Think ive just gotten hold of an unsurfed 9.7 kwad from a fellow breezer so pretty stoked. Need it to replace my 9.6 sly dog fish which was the loosest fastest board i owned in up to head high waves. Not a great construction though and the deck caved in after 12 months, hence the need for a kwad. I hear the simmons shapes are really quick but i wonder how well they paddle into steeper waves, they look like they've got bugger all nose rocker. Ive emailed Kirk who is the shaper for the simmons board and i was trying to figure out what size to go for. I was looking at a 8.6 to 8.8 x33 to try to get between 145-155 litres of volume. Im trying to suss out the width issue. Ive got the iopez 9 foot surf music which is 34 inches wide. Its the hardest board i own to catch waves on, i think due to its width. On a wave its really loose and quick but in all honesty my wave count is about half of what i would catch on the allwave or the sly dog. I suppose its all a compromise and the fun is in searching for that elusive magic board.

Hiya Sameh.

I rode a 9'7 for a solid week in bali.... I didn't think it was that great. Not sure whether it was because it was a quad but it was fairly tight if you know what I mean. I rode a 9'5 Naish Hokua last week a few days in a row and thought it was better... I rode the kwad when I was a shade under 100kg.

I'd suggest giving one of them a try, I also found the 9'3 2013 Prowave a very capable board in that sort of size range.... OR the 8'10 allwave may even suit you more depending on your standard??

9 7 JL Stungun is better in solid waves than the Kwad. More flexible with 5 boxes.

At 110kg I can ride the 9 2 Stungun it is a weapon

same problem though, there doesnt appear to be stock of any stun guns of bigger kwads around. how wide is the stun gun and whats it like paddling into a wave.

i have a 9'7 and 9'2 ( i think from mem, may be 9'1??) kwad, and a 9'2 stun gun. I find the quad performs better in anything full or not fast down the line. for anything sucky or overhead, then the stun gun is heaps better. stun gun is very sensitive to longitudinal weight positioning when paddling/takeoff etc. im 100kg most days...
if you are going for the kwad, i would suggest the smaller size, as they are very stable...

Hi
I have had both 9, 1" and 8' 7" JL Kwad and loved both with possibly the JL with best construction and durability in SUPs.

I now have Naish Hokua 9 and 8' 5" but r smaller than specs compared with JL.

U can not go wrong with either but they r just different, performance wave wise I like the Hokua especially if u like speed while standing on the tail
