Demoed the fanatic fly race 12'6, 27.5' and found it very tippy does anyone else think the same ? Is the falcon less tippy?

Kickels my Falcon 27.5 is stupid stable, I now wish I had gone the width down. I sometimes wonder how narrow they will be able to go with design.

I think I will be chasing a falcon 27.5 soon but really need to give it a good demo

Good choice.. The newer Falcon's are not so no-nose'e and that slightly fuller nose gives heaps more stability at only the slightest loss of speed.. It is pretty narrow but narrow is fast and it is a race board.. Let us know what you think once you've paddled the newer board.

Hey the new design is 24 n 3/4 but going narrower is not advisable as Jacko has found out in Europe.
Having a good planning area is important.
the new design coming out has some minor adjustments but make the board stable and fast....

Kickels - you can't really pay any attention to other people's judgements of how tippy a board is. People have widely differing balance abilities, but also they have widely differing tolerances to instability. For instance, if I fall at all in 10 miles in choppy conditions in the sea, I tend to think a board is tippy. But other people will happily fall 10 times on the same run and then judge that the board as rock solid. It depends on your expectations. And how cold is the water you paddle in...

You just have to try the boards for yourself. In general, the theoretically faster the board, the tippier it will be. So unless you want to race seriously, you might be much happier (and faster) on something 29" or more wide.

Having said that, I found the Starboard All Star 27.5" surprisingly stable - a completely different ball game to the Fanatic you tried. Have you tried one?
