Hi just wondering if anyone has ridden the Fanatic FLY 9"0.
iam on a Naish Hokua 9"3 now.
just wanna downsize a little.
any feed back, good or bad would be great.
cheers
JR
Why not try something round the 8'5 mark, you're not really down sizing going to fanatic 9', more like same sizing. Why not have a crack on a Naish 8'5 or PSH 8'6, pretty sure you sell both?
hey cam,
there is a new fanatic 8"10 coming out, i can ride the 9ft until the new one arrives so was just getting some feedback.
8"5 is useless in adelaide.
8"10 is as small as i wanna go.
the Fanatic 9"0 is a little less volume too.
Ive tried a few 8"5s and they're just to much hard work for what you get back.
I can ride my 9"3 as good as any of them and i can paddle it heaps easier.
ill have a look around.
thanks for you comments tho.
def taken onboard.
The 9' Fly feels smaller , quicker & more nimble than the Naish. It may only be 9' but the shape works way better.
thanks NZAL
what are you riding now???
i cant find anything close to the naish hokua 9"3, in regards to glide, catchability and overall shreddness in everything from 1ft - 6ft.
im liking the look for the fanatic 9.0 tho
cheers
Josh,
Board size is a personal thing. The only advantage of the board sizes you are talking about in 8'10" and above are in small waves, poor conditions or to compensate for peoples ability or weight.
8'5" for an advanced rider, is a standard size, you have not been interstate yet but when you do, you will find its the most common size elite riders are using.
Adelaide certainly has many days that suit small sizes and the only time I wish I had a larger board is in the poor conditions we have seen at times during recent comps.
Regards,
Scott
ive sup'd on the sunny coast a fare bit and to tell you the truth there is a good mix of boards from 8ft - the hgih 9fters, surfing everything from coolum beachies to noosa point.
I have a really good short surfboard for bigger waves and i have surfed upto 6ftish surf on my naish.
I just dont see the point of paddling a small SUP that is a prick to paddel out, a workout to catch waves on and only shreds when your deep in the pocket.
hence why iam asking peoples opinions about 9ftish sizes.
Id love a PSH 8"6 like yours but it never seems to look at home around adelaide.
cheers tho.

Right'o, think you seen me ride it in 1-1.5 foot waits and 1 to 1.5 foot beachport??
Hey, anyways good luck with your search.
didn't mean it that way mate.
as i said i ride surfboard outside of these areas.
so id rather something a little bigger.
Ive ridden a few smaller boards and it just didn't do it for me.
Ive been riding the fanatic 9'0 for several months now. Its a great board after I changed the fins. Turns well paddles on well. What more can I say except I cant wait for the fanatic 8'6
