Hi, I'm looking for a new board today, I had a Starboard Allstar 14x28, and now I am looking a 3 choices from the great guys at Surffx.
First is Carbon Allstar 14x26.5 , second is a JP All water Race Carbon , also 14x26.5 , and thirdly a Naish Glide GX 14x29.
I,m 183 cm and 80 kgs, and the board will predominately used for flat/choppy water fitness training , but also has to have
some downwind ability.
I really liked my Allstar 14x28, super stable, but am very tempted by JP , but I,m a little concerned the non displacement nose might be noticeably slower on the flat .
Has anyone any experience of the JP, or any comments regarding any of the options

Nothing!....My wife is getting into it , and really likes the stability....and she is such a nice wife that I'm allowed to get a new one
Maybe you should just get yourself the new Allsatr.. We had a great downwinder here yesterday and I got to see the new Allstar working close up beside me and I was pretty impressed.. I'm also very impressed with the new shape Glide.. I'm thinking the rougher the conditions the Glide will work better and the calmer will more suit the AllStar.. The new JP also looks pretty good but I'm not sure about such a low volume tail.. You need to demo them all and see what you think.. and let us know.. 
I agree with DJ's opinion except to say the 26.5" All Star is perfectly stable in just about any conditions. You need to be on pretty steep wave faces to catch the All Star out. Having said that, the Glide is of course, a bench mark for production downwind boards.
Just picked up a 2014 14 glide gx. I was in the same boat as you when i was deciding which board will meet my needs and more importantly my regular conditions. I have the tendency when picking boards to focus on the special days and not the average day 
. I haven't tried the star-board line, but i have been on the falcon and a couple sic shapes. At first I was skeptical about the glide being 29" wide(comfortable on narrower shapes) but after paddling it i feel a lot better. Smooth shape. Like that i can get forward to engage more of the water line in calm waters with out the board feeling out of balance. Haven't done a DW'r on it yet but from what ive read on the forums it performs well. IMO the 2014 naish glide 14 seems to be one of the best all around 14' shapes, but my lighter wallet has made me a bit bias

The Star Board Allstar won the battle in the end, taking on board all of your comments , and my experience with the previous Allstar, and I knew it would work well in the usual situations I paddle, I have just been out for a paddle on it, and the conditions were glassy smooth, and with my weight it engages the full water line length and glides beautifully ,and to be honest it feels just as stable as the 14x28 did.
But the ultimate decider was the fact that it matched my eyes!!, and i didn't think i could face the JP colour scheme first thing in the morning!
Hey I also have blue eyes streaked with red and orange. I put it down to insomnia and Hollywood's second golden age. Long may it continue.

The naish glide GX 14 x29 is an awesome board! Sooo stable and lives up to its name...
What is the difference in speed in perfectly flat water and no wind between the Glide GX 14x29" and the carbon Fanatic Falcon ocean 14x27"?
