kinda depends what you want it for ie surfing, paddling, but the boards that have been suggested would be recomended, just demo as many as you can
yep im 6' 5" 115kg and i luv my whopper on bigger days and i also ride a 11'6'"NSP with a ten inch fin on small days both will carry your weight easily Best idea is demo as many as possible
Hi Topcat,
Everything really depends on how much you want to spend? There's heaps of good stuff and also alot of cheaper stuff.
You say mostly Flat water and small waves, so def nothing to short!! You will want the lenght to pick up the small runs and much easier for your flat water glide if the sup is bit longer.
Plently of great 12'6 boards around at the moment that Flat water well and will catch your small waves but keep in mind a 12'6 sup isn't a wave performance baord.
What DJ has suggested is def worth looking at.
If you after anything cheaper then that $1500 - $1300 mark, then i suggest looking at the WOW sup's, these look good for a entry level sup and with a paddle i think about $1150.00 they do a 10'4 x 32 wide. Great for someone about that 120kg mark.
However id try to stick to stuff like 11'6 - 12'6 for what you want to do.
anything less then that $1k mark might look good but ain't gonna last the distance, it doesn't mater what anyone tells you, trust me i've seen it.
Also you might find some good used sup's around the traps, if you look.
Hope this helps.

Hey Top Cat,
I started Sup 2 months ago. I am 130 kg and 6ft 2 and started on a C4 12ft x 32inch wide soft top (237 liters). I found this board very stable and never fell of it on flat water. With a round nose and tail it is great for surfing small waves also. Just upgraded to a 14ft Laird Coastrunner. This is the ultimate for stability. Yes, I am hooked on Sup.
Cheers Todd
