think your refering to star boards, from star surf yeah and not Starboards owned by Sven?????

from what i've seen they look ok, watch out for width, think there 27 or 28 wich is a tad small for beginer, 30" is the benchmark for stability and learning.

Yep what the others said
Start with something 11' or 12' and 30" wide

But as you get into it you will want to specialize a bit more - maybe something more surf orientated or maybe something more for distance paddling depending on what you find you enjoy most.

A lot of people develop quickly and whats good now might seem a bit basic 6 months down the road. You might want to try and get a secondhand board to start with - just make sure its structurely sound. You can always sell it on to another beginner when you upgrade later.
