Hi all,
I'm looking at purchasing a Sup; have had a couple of goes on borrowed boards and was reasonably ok. Currently ride a Waveski and surf mainly around Cottesloe reef breaks. I'm 5foot 2 inches and weigh 43 kg. thanks for any assistance. Cheers Jackie
IMO.. Check out the Naish 8'5" Mana.. Or something similar in other brands.. If you're after a better distance and flat water alrounder check out the Naish 10'6" Nalu.. Or something similar in other brands..
.. Most shops sell Naish and should have these boards for you to demo.

At 43kg.... the 8'5" mana might float a bit too much? ;)

Great that your getting into it.imho be careful of getting too big a board .someone with your experience and skills in surf will outgrow a large board pretty quick and the thicker the board the harder it is to turn them.something surf specific in the 100-90 lts would be good.see you out there .
Thanks all for your replies. Can any of you recommend who I should purchase a sup from. I agree about the thickness of a board impacting on turning. sounds as though the Jimmy Lewis might be the pick!
I bought mine from jason at westoz kite in rochingham.he gives good deals (dont be shy though you gotta ask;) ) plus he's right in front of the water so you can demo a few before you buy. no waves but it gives you an idea.

You're also in the state where there are stacks of starboards, and plenty of them to choose from too. They're my main board brand, and the feedback I've had from a local repairer is they are the best construction......

Tang got a good idea ,other suggestion is a smaller, narrower board than DJ said and for the most important : a smaller flotation around 80 liters no more. So i recommend to you to order a custom from your local shaper ( EPS/epoxy
). Can send to you a shaping file to start with![]()
