With all the rain predicted down the east coast, may be we should give this a go. Kids don't try this at home.

What kind of board? With all the debris, I wouldn't do it on anything except an inflatable. Actually, I wouldn't do it at all after seeing that massive tree branch go by.

Artificial wave at Glenwood Springs, Colorado. Built 4 years ago by town council. 2nd year it was there they had the national freestyle kayaking champs there, last year the national river surfing and river stand up paddle surf champs. This last spring it ran at 28,000 c.f.s., normal late summer flow is 2 to 3,000. The first guy on a SUP in the video is Charlie Macarthur - C4 Waterman have named one of there iSUPs after him, the c-Mac. Great guy too. The little green board you see doing spins is made by some guys out of Buena Vista, Colorado. That's the other side of the dividing range on the Arkansas River. There is a pretty big scene of river SUPing in the US - when you're that far from the ocean, look for waves anywhere. Some of these guys are seriously good. I've rafted that section at even higher flows, but it's big bubbles no troubles type of thing. Aussie rafting rivers, if there is ever water are way better.

I am surprised that the white water park in Sydney hasn't put in a standing wave on the course.

We did an exhibition at Penrith a few years ago, the rapids there are too close together one hiccup and its knee bashing on the underwater steel domes to the end. Some pics here
