Seen a vid and a couple.of pics of this new board. It looks like a nice shape.
How does it compare to the revolution, looks the the nose is pulled in a bit, is there much difference in the rocker?
Anyone tried it?

Hi Tom

I have had he Sunova Shorty for about a month and have had a few small wave sessions in Florida.
It looks similar to the Revolution, but surfs quite differently.... I never really synced up with my Revolution, but I really like the Shorty.
These are the only sessions I have had on it, so I put some clips together to answer your questions.

I will note a list differences below.

Outline: Shorty more pulled in front 1/3rd, and slightly more before the hip. More outline curve overall.
Length: 9'2" vs 9'0", this also adds additional curve in the rocker and line length, improving glide and helping to surf tighter in the pocket.
Bottom: Shorty has a concave from nose through to mid section, whilst Revo is flat throughout.

Overall the pulled in nose and other small amendments of the Shorty just makes it a more playful, performance orientated board.

Really fun and easy to surf.... not a super stability board because of thin rails and lowish volume, but the overall shape makes it fairly comfortable.

Looks great. Thanks for the feedback and the video Rick. It sounds like an evolution... Not a revolution

I had a couple of off the shelf revolutions before I did a custom 9'4", and asked for the nose to be pulled right in. I imagine it to be very similar to the shorty and it's still my favourite board to date. Looking at the dimensions I reckon the shorty would be a favourite in a quiver.

Hi Brenno. Why did you ask for the Revo's nose to be pulled in on your custom? What improvement was gained? Yes the nose looks a bit odd but the board surfs well. My 9' Revo handles just about anything from head high down to 2 foot beach breaks. That said I am very interested in the Shorty! Cheers

Hey Bob
I still have my 9 foot revo and looking at the nose on it today made me remember getting caught on a face and flipped more than once. Fun board but I guess I pushed it a bit hard a few times. My 9'4" x 28.5" with a pulled in snout doesn't get me in half as much trouble on much bigger waves. Still have both for different days though.
Cheers mate

The Shorty looks like a great board. I bought a 9'0 28 Casey Revolution some few months back and absolutely love it. A really fun board for my skill level (intermediate at best) and the conditions I normally surf (small to medium waves). I'm catching heaps more waves than on my 8 foot SUP and having heaps more fun as well.
