Hi,

I have been paddling for some 10 months now and am now seeking to buy a board. Im looking towards a more race oriented board and would like to get some input on which one you would suggest :

a) Hobie E Series 12'6
b) Fanatic Falcon 12'6 x 30" (Carbon)

I have "good" offers on both of these boards and was almost buying the Fanatic but Im not so sure about its width at 30". I will be using the board 80% in flatwater (glassy and choppy) and 20% on ocean. Im 95kg and 1,88m.

Unfortunately I can only afford 1 board and even though I know that there is no one board solution, what would you say is the best "compromise" for me?

Both great boards IMO.

I'm thinking the Hobie might be more suited to flater water and the Fanatic will work better in all round flat, choppy and especially downwinders.

Consider a 14' at your height and weight, unless you want to BOP race.

Hi,
Thanks for the replies.

I considered the 14 but due storage limitations I will have to stick to the 12'6.

Seems the Falcon will be the way to go as Im looking for a board for different conditions. I was just wondering whether the 30" width wouldnt be too much and I would benefit more in going a bit narrower. Any thoughts?
