Hi guys, currently riding a pretty banged up 10' 6" NSP SUP for use in the surf. It feels as though (in my limited experience) that doesn't have a great deal of rocker as its a bit of a pig to turn on a wave, though I can catch them very easily. Looking at upgrading to higher performance board for surfing, would the Naish Nalu 10' 6.5" be the go, or should I be looking at something a bit shorter. I'm 5' 10" tall and around 88kg and will be using it for surfing only. Limited ability to test boards here in Tassie, so any help appreciated.

regards

hi mate

if your looking at naish i would look at a hokua if your looking at high performance wave board, but if you like the look of the nalu the 10 footer would be good even the 9'6, just demo what ever boards you can, most brands make a good range of surf sups these days, cant really go to wrong just depends what you like, just have fun with what ever board you get after all thats what its all about

Some boards to consider with good track records:

At the bigger more stable end the Naish 9' 5" x 31.5" (I think) Manna next for your weight 9 ft Coreban fusion but if you really wish to progress try the Jimmy Lewis 9' 1" Kwad - 9' 1" x 30" but much thinner than Manner and Fusion but design makes it very stable and it surfs easier than the others.

I have ridden them all and each has its place in progression but for most even me now on a Jimmy Lewis 8' 7" Kwad in 9 months progress is quicker than we expect

g'day Brad6

sounds like you should come along to the demo day @ carlton river 12 feb, will be truck loads of surf type sups to try there, and some are offering good discounts on new boards to people that attend and you can pick up a "showbag" full of brochures and other goodies.

Just got myself a SB 9.1 x 29 pro after trying quite a few boards and this one really stood out for me, very fast so catches even small waves easily and surprisingly stable. Depends on what waves you are on and demo as many as you can

I stepped up (down) from a Surftech 10,6 laird which surfs well to a Surftech Lopez "lil darlin" 8,11.
Love it !!
You won't go wrong with this board it rips and goes fast. The quad setup is SIK. Its easy to ride and paddles along nice too.
