Does anyone have advice on how to remove rail tape?

Hi Waterlove,
Try a product called Ooomph its a citrus based cleaner spray it on or spray it on a rag and wipe it on and leave for a while but be careful don,t get it anywhere near the deck grip as it will lift it also ,you may even use a hair dryer to soften the tape and speed up the process, don,t hold the dryer to close and blister the board and you may even open the vent valve if the board has a manual one.

welcome to the breeze

Depends how hardened the glue residue is. Turps worked best for me as it stayed on the rag and let me keep scrubbing - I rinsed off with soap and water. The oomph type product didn't penetrate the thick stuff and it is kind of sticky but cleans up the edges and scuff marks well so it is worth having some around. I had a post on this last year and got some good advice from the breezers if you want to look for it.

Tea tree oil or surprisingly WD40 works really well and is very safe.

Thanks Snowie and Straddie....appreciate all the help...this will give me options if one way doesnt work. It is the thick tape..so a bit of effort with this i guess. Will keep trying till I get it!! :-)

Oh...and i was told the polystyrene pieces eg... in packaging/postage boxes work well for scuff marks too!

3M make a product just for that, "3M 700, adhesive cleaner and solvent".
Just bought some myself this week to remove some deck grip, works well.
It is in a pressure pak and has a nozzle extension for those hard to get into places, like when you start peeling back the tape, the nozzle will slip in under the edge to make it easy, then just spray and peel.
Also acetone does a good job.
Cheers,
Ken.
