I've decided to sell my kiting gear and go all out SUP this year.
Got the 12'6 JM for racing, DWers & the Coreban Icon 10ft as my all-round board now I just need a great performance board to round out my quiver...
At the moment I weigh 100kg & I don't mind if it's a little challenging at first I'm hoping to loose some weight with all the Supping over the next 6 months... & I have the Icon for messy conditions. I'm no shredder at the moment but I can surf ok and really want a board that I can progress with upping my game in waves up to 6ft...
So far I'm considering the following:
- Jimmy Lewis Kwad 9'1
- Naish Hokua 9'5
- PSH Hull Ripper 9'6
- Fanatic ProWave 9'2
- Surftech Laguna Bay 9'1
All pretty sweet boards could be a tough decision so any feedback on these or other suggestions would be great.
Cheers.
hi mate
great selection of boards your looking at, couldn't really go wrong with any of them, spose you could just try and demo them and see what suits your surfing style, maybe consider looking at a custom if your looking at something based on performance, just a few things to think about i spose,

Cheers mate I agree decided to go a production board maybe look at a custom next time round...
Cabrinha Pro Series 9'2 or 9'8? Have the Coreban Icon for my all-rounder too and the 9'8 for the performance board - what a board!!
It supported me fine when i demoed one, ability is all i was lacking after 2 hour demo i was fatigued just trying to stay on, got some great waves![]()
if i got out more than once a week (sunday) than i think i would have got the balance thing sorted.
You should add the Simon Anderson and Luke Short (LSD) ranges to your list.
Surfing SUPs shaped by surfboard shaping legends.
Some of their latest stuff is unreal.
They've just done a 7'10" that under the right feet would absolutely rip.
I'm not suggesting you go for that.....it sinks with my 80+ kegs on it.
I've demo'ed quite a few of them and they surf great......I'd love to get my hands on on of the hi-po fibreflex sticks.
The guys at the Sup Shop in Mona Vale are really helpful if you are ever in that neck of the woods.
Mate don't listen to Lacey
the 9'5 Hokua is the first board I havn't wanted to change after 3months I love it .![]()
haha definitely going to give this board a demo. Looks pretty sweet.
Good review here http://www.suphq.com/reviews/naishreviews/621-naish-hokua-2011-96-vs-hokua-2012-95
Believe it's a smaller version of the icon wouldn't be worth a new board for me...
Yeah I guess so maybe I will give it a demo...
