Taking a different direction. Still thinking of my next board. I want something that will be comfortbale taking a short paddle but want to be able to surf a bit. Currently have a Fanatic 11'6" Fly. Too floaty and not fun in the surf. But a great first board non the less. I am at 112 kgs and 6'1".
I posted about the Nash Mana 10' and the PSH XX Wide based on my weight.
My son just got a Rusty 10'4" I can paddle it in calm conditions but not too stable. Someone said to step up int0 the 10'10".
Something about the PSH - also looking at the 11'0.
Any ideas for a bigger boy such as myself.
You may also want to look at the bigger Fanatic Allwave, they not too bad in flat water. Or a Starboard Widepoint which i think has a bit more rocker than the Fanatic.
Both boards are short and wide so quite agile and stable.
I am currently riding the PSH xtra wide ripper 10'11" and a bit heavier than you (115-120), great in the surf and no problems to paddle up the coast on those flat days.
Always suprised at how well this big betty turns, havent surfed it in anything bigger than head high so not sure how it goses in chunkier waves but for the smaller stuff its a great board.
Cheers
Starboard 10.5 wide point would be hard to go past - good paddler/very stable/ excellent surfer for all sizes of paddler/excellent construction/sweet rocker which enables later and steeper takoffs without nosedives and makes the board so easy to turn and overall a very very nice board for someone of your size. I have paddled and surfed pretty much every board between 10 and 11ft and nothing comes close to the starboard.
i agree with shunter, i have a PSH 10'6 xwide ripper
great for flat water, awsome in all surf conditions.
had a 10ft Mana before the PSH,it is as stable as the Mana being 32" wide
but doesn't push water like the Mana making it much easier to pick up waves and turns like a much shorter board, bigger and steeper the drops the better it goes
a great one board quiver
Have a look at the Angulo 10'4 x 31.5. Good option for the bigger paddler who wants perfomance on a wave.
You'd be mad not to demo a 10'2' PSH Hull Paddler.
I've gone from gentle turns to full on multiple off the lip re-entrys (not radical because of the width) if the wave allows. If I get consistent with it I'll actually be at the level I want, which is not to say I don't kook out occassionally. My one complaint is the heaviness of the material they build them out of. Have a go and move your back leg around I promise you wont regret it. They paddle beautifully and are as stable as the Queen Mary. I'm just having difficulty with cutbacks due to the width and vertical backhand turns due to old age and balance![]()

I have had time on 9 and 9 8 Angulo both have their place for rider size and conditions and do it as well as or better than their competition.
From my experience they are among the lightest and toughest boards on the market while still providing performance to suit all levels.
Both are the most stable boards I have ridden due to the distribution of volume mixed with the rocker and width and perform exceptionally.
While I do not have an Angulo at the monent for me at 76kg the 9 is on my shopping list.
Demo one, I have found Angulo are very good at making boards available.
