Hi, current surf SUP is a Naish Hokua but looking to get my first "big" board and would greatly appreciate some advice please. Key information;
* Height 5"11, weight 85kg
* Looking to paddle long distances in river, ocean and also be able to catch some swells / downwind etc (I live at cotton tree on the Sunshine coast so have access to river, mouth and ocean)
* Not looking to race or compete
* Am of average ability but still wanting to have some stability
* Have read plenty of good info on the Naish Glide but unsure which length as well as feedback re other options worthwhile to consider and demo.
* My current paddle is a Kialoa Methane which I love for the surf - Would this work for the new board or what is a good paddle option to consider for this new purpose?
Thanks heaps - Cooper
My opinion for what it is worth mate, go the 2014 14 x 29 Glide if you want a stable easy to live with board, and something to do long distance paddles on....and they downwind great.
Don't know anything about that paddle, so might leave that advice to others. Have fun.
Nick
IMO.. the right board for you is the 14' Glide.. and your Methane paddle should be fine to use with it.. Depending on how short you have your paddle for surfing it might be a little short on the Glide.. If your paddle is not shorter than about 6" overhead it should be ok.. If it's shorter you should concider another Merhane for the Glide and have it about 8" overhead.
Thanks Nick and DJ for feedback so far. My paddle will def be too short I think to use on this board as well. Anything else worth considering such as the Fanatic equivalent or similar?
