I just took delivery of one of the new 12'6 BIC Race-tec Sup's to arrive in Australia. Talk about light! It comes in at 9.5kg's (the only other board that feels this light is the Naish LE 12'6)
It looks great & sits nicely in the water (having always paddled Starboard Ace's I like to sit closer to the water instead of up too high)
I've paddled it twice now, once in the lake (but with only 1 foot of water & a reasonable head-wind but it tracked nicely) & once at Terrigal Haven catching waves & doing ins & outs.
If you're looking to be competitive in the stock??? class, the Race-Tec's will put you in contention. This board is a result of multiple versions of Eric Terrien's winning 12'6 boards, blending the best characteristics into a single platform that features speed without the quirkiness that can go along with narrower race designs. Designed to excel in a variety of conditions from calm flatwater venues to challenging and choppy open ocean courses.
Directly modelled on the winning shapes used by our international rider Eric Terrien, the Race Pro boards are no-concession boards for expert level riders, but which will be of huge interest to the intermediate level paddler too. Designed for maximum speed and control by our shaper Patrice Remoiville, they???re manufactured in RACE-TEC, a composite construction that is ultra light weight and ultra rigid. Proven winners on the competition podiums, and for sheer paddling pleasure.

WEIGHT
This factor is vitally important for anyone hoping to win top level race events, and to guarantee excellent acceleration and velocity. RACE-TEC construction enables us to produce super light weight boards that deliver top performance.
Approximate weight of our 12'6 boards once fully fitted
(foot pads and fin) : 12' 6 x 26.5" : 21lbs / 9,5 kg
FITTINGS
Our RACE-TEC boards come with the following fittings :
A BIC SUP Deck Grip foot pad featuring the diamond
groove & design used on our production boards
Two carry handles on the 12'6 models
A decompression valve
A leash plug on the tail
A 10" FCS fin
Have to wait until next year for the 14's :(
I can't wait to race it against some of the other brands to see how it goes!
