I have been riding a 10 ft Laguna Bay for three years of fun but now need to downsize to a lighter, faster & more manouvreable board. I weigh 70 kg and the PSH Ripper reviews look good (thanks also Piros & sorry about the duplicate PM I meant to put it out here on the forum, newby on this!). Am also looking at Naish Hokua and Gerry Lopez 8'10". Any advice on differences in performance for these boards ie. weight, stability, construction, speed and manouvreability on wave. The PSH Ripper has that vent plug thingy - does that mean that if it gets dinged it sucks in water. What differences in performance are there between Rippers normal and wide? Thanks.

Not to much help on the SUP subject but any board that gets dinged sucks in water (unless its a foamy) so dont let a valve deter you. At a guess I'd say that a vent/valve would be for letting out pressure if left in the sun too long

Wife owns the Gerry Lopez 8'11 and loves it. I've surfed it a few times too when I can pry it off her . Its a great board sits in the pocket like nothing I've sup'd before. I would say the GL is more longboard style though and the Naish Hokua is said to be shortboard style (never surfed one so can't comment)
I sup the C4 sub vector's and they are worth a look too.

if your after lighter ,faster & more manouvreable board you should contact Tully and get an updated Laguna bay custom as why go to a heavier pop out?
