i don't surf as much as i used due to race boards
. with that in mind i was after a good board that is easy to use but had the performance factor. i could be up to three weeks at a time i don't surf sup. actually hadn't been on a surf sup for 2 months until i demoed the jp 8'10 this morning.
yes it's easy to paddle, but surfs really really well. feels alive whether doing pivot dishpans of driving off the rail with very good speed. you can tell there has been a lot put into these boards. there are no dull/dead moments that i could pick.
and, well, yes, despite my reservations with the no toe, no cant. all i can say is it works.
piros is right and i'm wrrrr, wrrrrr, wrong![]()
i'm going to get one, probably the composite lay up.
cheers

Spoke to the boys at Surf FX this arvo and they told me you ordered the 8-10 composite , as I said in the video don't take my word for it , go and demo the straight fin JP's you will feel the speed and drive in the very first wave.![]()
I have used both the 2013 9'2" and 9'6". I use to have the 8'10" which did not change from last year and loved this board but at 98kg struggle a bit when it was windy, so went for the 9'2" which is about 10L more but the same width. Must say I am super happy with the 9'2" and it works in every thing from knee high slop to good size Yallingup, but I agree with Piros on the fin setups I use TC side fins with a Kelly centre fin for small surf and then in bigger surf replace the Kelly cnetre fin with a PG5. The JP are the closes non custom boards which act & surf just like my short boards, so yes they hjave got them dialed in right.

Yeah the 8-0's are customs but they will be continually produced due to the demand , good news is a new 8-2 production board is on the slab and will be added to the range.![]()
Have you got one rob ? love to try the 8'2 , Does the board go ok when changing direction , with no toe in ? Our dealer up here only deals with oversized jp's , need to eat some more Maccas and more beer to have the weight . Wish we had a better distributor of jp's on the sunny coast !

had a good surf today. while the fins i had i didn't go, i'm really happy with the board.
i have a gauge/test for boards and it's how they get of the waves before a closeout etc.
no bogging or grabbing, just clean as whistle.
i demoed the board with standard fins. today i tried the s9 sides and s7 centre- not for me. when push came to shove i found it lacked a bit for me.
i preferred the factory setup, but i'll use kelly fins instead of the plastic m5's and maybe the sunny side fins in bigger stuff
cheers
Hi Green menace,
talk to Paul at Sunshine coast standup paddle on 1800671450,he was really helpful. I demoed their 8'2" wide surf and got one off them real quick, it's heaps of fun, 8'10" surf is the next one I want to try.
