An awful lot of amusing opinions on the standup zone on these boards....especially liked DJ's opinion "they look like connor's starboard"

Hi just checked your profile and I am also an over 60 surfer and as I am sure you would agree looks do not always relate to performance in many ways.

Hey Glenn,

Sorry i should had plenty of info on the Stunguns before this. not big on the social media stuff unfortunately.
a bit of history for this model. after riding the kwad for 6 months i was looking for a board to surf tighter to pocket and get that real short board feel. jimmy was quite compliant and got to work on the project straight away.
we received the 1st Stunguns made in the 4 sizes for testing.
the board uses the kwad rocker with more of a pulled down rail. I know your a JL fan and you know the boards ride super smooth. This one is no exception.
We had to muck around with the fin setup and added two extra boxes to now make it a 5 fin setup.
Jimmy's taken 1/8" out of the thickness which has given it great feel on a wave. As a kwad it is sensational. You can put the thing anywhere. As far as were concerned it's lifted the bar on performance SUP's.
we have the 9'1 , 9'7 and 8'2 in demo at kracka. the 8'7 was there but the guy who demo it wasn't giving it back.
next shipment July all with 5 boxes.
As far as Starboard , sorry no deal. it's more my love of rounded pins.

Am sure they are good boards. Look great to me also.
My comment more about the entertainment value of the discussion rather than the performance value of the boards.
Always willing to issue helpful advice about any "performance" issues you might be having though (promise not to tell the missus)

I have tried both the 8'7" and the 9'7" Stungun.
I demo'd the 8'7" and found it super stable out the back. I am 6'4" and 95kg's. It was easy to paddle and fast down the line, but as it was set up as a 2+1 I found it a little loose for my liking, but having said that I can't ride any SUP as a 2+1 as I always seem to slide out on the bottom turns. I am a Quad man through and through.

I tried the 9'7" yesterday in windy onshore conditions but this time set up as a quad and it went unreal. It again was super stable and fast, plus had plenty of drive and hold in the face but still released nicely when needed and it handled the windy bumpy conditions with ease.

I would really like to have another go on the 8'7" set up as a quad as I think it would feel totally different

Hi,

has any one got thickness and volume of these boards, and also are they a heavy or light construction? The shapes look like a lot of fun.

Construction is the usual Jimmy Lewis PVC construction, super strong, and they felt very light when I used them on the weekend.

8'7″ X 29 1/2″ X 3 3\4″ Volume: 110 liters

9'2″ X 30 1/4″ X 3 7/8″ Volume: 124 liters

9'7″ X 31" X 4″ Volume: 136 liters
