I am a beginner and while looking for a SUP tried out a 12'6" SIC. I really liked it although I only paddled it for a short time. I ended up getting a 14' board (Jimmy Lewis M14).

I think the biggest difference is the hobie is more flat orientated and the sic is more about dw. They will both work for any component of sup. the bullet will be easier to learn to dw on, and the hobie will be allot quicker on the flats

Check the Noosa Surfing festival BOP pics, and the MS BOP at Collaroy vid and pics. You can see a lot of different 12.6 boards in action including the Hobie & SIC boards!

I've never tried a SIC, but i owned a 2011 Hobie Elite Race 12,6 and it's a great all around board.

If you aren't limited to those two boards, i've tried Naish, STB Coast Runner, Fanatic Fly Race, STB BOP, C4, Mistral, 404, RRD and the JM (Surftech) and from all those boards i can tell you the best "do it all" board is the new STB All Star, i own the 27.5'' in carbon and it's a perfect everyday board, still fast in the flats, surfs great and it's an amazing DW machine. I'd go for the 26'' if my goal was to win races.

Thanks guys.

The Hobie is from China, I don't know wich factory.
SIC Maui is from Thailand (Cobra Factory, same of Starboard, Naish, Fanatic and much more)

I have read many reviews, both SUP's are good and have amazing look.

Maybe the SIC is the better construction and shape for everytime - race, allround and especially open ocean paddle and DW.
Some reviews said that SIC Bullet is the best board to open ocean.

I will try the SIC soon...
