Hi every one

I'll tell about the situation. I just moved near the coast, the south coast of NSW Australia that is. I have been surfing for a a little while and starting to get confident in the water. So one day I saw some people floating across the top of the water , and had to know what the go was. After asking I was introduces to the SUP world. After hiring a board and giving it a full day of catching small (small) waves and paddling round decided it was for me ( very much so). i have lurked these boards for a few weeks gathering info and what kind of questions i need to ask. So here it goes

So I will ask the question(s).

First time buying a SUP I am wanting a all rounder that will help me get better in the surf and eventually lead to buying more surf orientated board, but can be used for flat water and small daysl, and will meet my skill level for the future, not just as a absolute newbie. I was looking at these boards.(not in order of priority)
I am 165cm tall and weigh 82kg (give or take 2kg from week to week)

Naish Nalu 10" 6' (2013-14)

Naish Mana 9" 5'

Naish mana 10" 0'

Fanatic Fly 10" 0'

I am I limiting my choice of brand a bit because i have access to a person that can sell them at a slight discount, but I am still open to all suggestions.

Thanks for all, if any reply ! (also open to suggestion on how to make better quality posts)

Can't go wrong with the Nalu. & you'll never outgrow it!

Plus one on that. IMHO the Nalu has heaps better glide and is a far better surf board that the others you mention. It's shape is just a bit more refined and it has a little less rocker than the Manas (which feel to me like they are 'pushing water' a bit.) If you do a search on the Nalu on this site you will see lots of raves. I surf mine in a couple of places that require a long paddle - and I take it out on the big old dam out in the hinterland here for a cruise when the coast gets a bit crazy or the onshores seem relentless. It's the best all-rounder I know of. I just bought a shorter SUP for the local beachies when it's a bit more serious, but I am keeping the Nalu. It's a beauty.

I've had/have three of those boards and the best one imo is the new 2014 9'5'' Mana.

The new 10'6'' Nulu is a close second.

Welcome to the Breeze..

Shame you missed Merimbula last month.. This is the new 9'5'' Mana [Alana] at the Pambula river mouth.. I'm 6'4'' 95kg.

Hey DJ

When you say the Mana 9'5" is the best, did you mean for my particular situation or for over all performance?

The Nalu seems like fun, and as the other guys said, you cant outgrow it

Merimbula? was there some sort of meet up, because I am very interested in gaining some knowledge and advice from people first hand.

thanks for the feedback as well

If you are going to paddle 70% waves and 30% flat water I'd suggest the 9'5"

If you are going to paddle 70% flat water and 30% waves I'd suggest the 10'6"

The Merimbula classic is a yearly event.. Always the last week of Nov.. The last one was the 33rd year that it's been running.
