I'd love to know what do you think of the weight of the 12'6 x 27.5'' carbon Falcon if you can check it.

So would I, especially a side shot showing the rocker

Also noticed (would be hard to miss) the completely different shape between falcon 14 carbon and HRS constructions. Seems weird as the are 2 different shapes yet have same name.
Yet the 12 6s look the same inboth carbon and HRS.

Anyone know why the different shapes on the 14?

Exactly the same shape. One of the boards you have seen is a 2013 graphic on a 2012 shape.

so I wonder which one is the new shape?

the one with the almost pin tail stern

or the other one

Are the different widths a different shape?

The pintail board looks very narrow compared to the squarer tail board, is the pintail only on the 25" wide board?

As the 14's get wider the tail gets wider as well.

I think both of those are the new 14.. Only the skinny (25") board has that piny tail and the two wider versions have the square tail.

IMO without doing this you would end up curving the rail outline more on the wider boards resulting in less parallel rails (more yawing/worse tracking).

I'm guessing that solid red and white bottom is AST and the red bottom and black showing through is the full carbon.

I'm having trouble with my photoucket account.. Maybe I've maxed it out.. again..

I'll try and get my pics up soon.

I'm a big believer in tail rocker and these new boards have heaps.. Rocker line is the key to a good board and I heard they tested heaps of shapes and made lots of changes till they got it right.. Plus by using a very special computer program.. Clean release off the tail is so important if you want a fast board... Notice they also made the nose slightly wider and that was a slight surprise to me but because the board has a little more nose rocker a super pointy nose is not needed.. (your not pushing it through the water as much) plus having it a little less pointy gives the board more stability.

Cheers DJ , I like what i am hearing. The thing is, I have ordered a 14' x 30" (i'm packing 105kgs) so very excited to see what they are like. The graphics are very sharp and although not a big fan of red , i'm sure I will get used to it.

Cheers
Bruce

Thanks DJ for the pics! The board looks sweet and I'm glad I waited to buy. The fin has the WOW factor as well. If it's faster and more stable too....well that's a homerun!

Im going to get the 14 x 30 (lazy man that I am). Such a nice looking board, and with the normal Fanatic build quality really cant go wrong.

More pic..

Demo day at Ocean Grove.

Here's a close look at how they do that duel thickness deck pad.

Love that new fin.

Love the look of that pintail 14.

Hmmmmm.. Wax on the deck of the board in front of the deck pad.. I heard the new boards will have a longer deck pad so you can stand more forward if you want to without the need for wax.

I had my fat bike there and went for a cruise up the beach before we all went around to the river to demo some flat water boards.

New shape 14 vs the old 14 behind it with the red paint sanded off.

Looks even better sitting on the water.. Check out the rocker.

It felt great to paddle.. Slightly more stable than the 14' Jav .. It had a quick initial tip like the Jav but the secondary stability felt better.. I still think the Jav is slightly quicker in dead flat water but throw in some chop and bumps and I'm sure this new Fanatic would shine.

I then spotted something yellow on the beach that made me go.. Oooh.. Please can I paddle that.

That MC Jav should come with a sand bag to rest on the board in case you want to leave it on the beach.. Just in case a slight gust of wind comes along.. It's soooooo light... and so nice to paddle even if it is the same shape as the old Jav.

Looking at the amount of rocker the new Fanatic has, it's hard to belive it would be the same or faster that the old fanatic flatwater?

isn't it a replacement for the flat water and the open ocean models ?

I imagine it would be hard to get a board to excel in both flat water and ocean conditions but the designers must have got it sorted to only have a single model this year.

I'm looking forward to seeing one soon.

IMO.. Yes, no, and yes..

It 'is' one board to replace both.. and you 'can' get one board to do both very well.. and yes lots of board testing showed that the designers 'have' got it right..
