Why do the manufacturers who charge top dollar put crappy fins on their boards. I tried to adjust my Fanatics fin and tapped it with a mallet only to see the foil collapse and shatter. Anyway I went to see Len at Shapers and bought a set of 6" stealth and oh what a difference.
The feel of the board totally changed and gave me control.
it is a little stupid when you migh pay up to if not exceeding 1800 and you get a set of cheap plastic fins or whatnot, but when you do buy a decent set of fins boy do you notice the difference and love it

They are not cheap plastic fins on the Allwave and I have bashed hundreds of fins in and out and never busted one yet so not sure why your one would have broken like that!! Would love to have a look as if there was something wrong with the fin fanatic would love to know. You are right in that there are better fins and the ones they put in most boards are there to suit everyone but as with all boards different fins can proforme different for different people same as the prowave boards they come with great fins but I still find some other fins ones that suit my riding a bit better.

I guess my real point was the shape and material used in the fins does not stack up against a good set of fins with the right amount of flex giving the board a much better feel when turning. I don't mean to single out Fanatic but I think from what I have seen it is common throughout the industry to use cheaper plastic or other composite fins on the boards.
The reason I used a rubber mallet was to move the fin which was tight in the box.
We could go on forever but you can't beat a good quality fibreglass fin.
IV got the 8"6 fanatic allwave ..looking for suggestions about what finds to use on it instead of the stock ones t came with. Jackson close ? Maybe
