Hey all,
I have set up a demo of the boards for the weekend coming, but is there any other board I should be considering?
Planning on doing some DW, and race work with it, so, really just wondering what else I may need to consider.

The Walk on Water 14s tend to be overlooked but shouldn't be, they're great performers.
The starboard Ace is another one to consider if you're not planning to surf or do BOP type races on it (the AllStar is better for that). The Ace is close to unbeatable in light downwind (of course it depends on the engine!) and goes pretty quick on flatwater too, but a different feel to ride so you've got the right idea by demoing first.

Been reading the forums a bit, most which board threads end up with a demo demo demo response. Figured it might be the best way

ive got a carbon falcon which is awesome, but the allstar is worth a paddle as is the lahui kai. . . from my testing.
Purchased 14 x25 all star without demo , couldn't be happier very fast catches the smallest runners in the lightest of winds,surf s well , only down side is paddling across the wind,stability is marginal at 85 kg but after a few sessions your technique adapts. Super light weight I'm frothing.
Nuggman, demo is the go. I ended up with two 14 foot Fanatic Falcons. I use the 14 x 25 for flat water and the 14 x 27.5 for downwinders in the ocean. There is considerable difference in stability, however, with practice the 25 becomes easier to use in a variety of conditions. Depending on the type of conditions you paddle in the 27.5 is a good all rounder.
Ali is right about the Ace - always worth considering if you don't do too much choppy paddling. But then again the good guys seem to be able to paddle it in any conditions. The best thing to do is try them. A good retailer should have a demo of both. Different people have a preference for one board or another so try before you buy.
I'm getting the 14' x 25 Ace but was close to getting the 14 x 26 All-Star as my one all-rounder. You have to decide what you're prepared to compromise on. I want a board for both downwind and flatwater racing. I've been paddling a falcon on training days but like the recessed deck because i've been used to downwinding on the Starboard Ocean & training on a 12'6 Ace.

Wondering guys, are all these Aces and All Stars your talking about the
Carbon version?
Just wondering if anyone has the AST All Star?
and what their thoughts are on it ? weight a disadvantage?
