If u can afford the extra get the carbon, the lighter weight is nicer to pick up little bumps and responds well. the 27.5 is an idiots guide to dwing. I love mine :)

Totally agree about the Carbon but having paddled both back to back recently, the HRS still makes for a pretty compelling argument. If you can wait till the new year we might have a couple of 27.25 HRS Falcons up that way.

HRS is good value and it is a great board for down winding.
Very stable and catches runners easily. There is some debate if it is much slower than the thinner model when down winding for the average paddler. Let's face it, if you're upright and paddling you'll be much faster than falling and swimming. I race both widths at various times and enjoy racing both of them.

The HRS model is also a little more durable.

The only problem with the HRS model is the ugliness IMO the red Matt paint makes it look cheap and plasticky looking. At least the carbon version breaks it up with the brushed looked.

Looks don't mean anything though my wife keeps telling me this
If you ant superficial then the HRS version is the pick of the boards for 2014 for me as it's durable and froths of down winding
