I am interested in the Deep Oceanboards 14'and have just read Casso's excellent review but it's the only info i could find,has anyone else ridden these boards or have info on them Cheers
Try get some feedback from unsponsored riders as a bit of impartiality can be hard to find.

i have paddled a 14 x 30 deep on flat water. Seemed resonable. Id probally go about 27.5 wide if it was me ordering one. Not sure how it goes in the ocean but probally be ok for up to 20 knts but more of a flat water to moderate wind type board. Didnt feel super light to pick up was not heavy either. Looked well made. On flat water Id say it felt as equally as fast as a naish javelin but not as fast as a fanatic flat water.

I have had a paddle on a 12'6 demo board. I thought it was quiet good and am considering purchasing. The strong points of these boards are that they are machine shaped by Dolphin surf craft who have specialised in racing craft for over 20 years. The glassing and finish would be the equal to anything I've seen and most of the best clubbie paddlers in Aus use their gear. While there are some obvious differences between the two sports your dont have to look far ie JM to see there are some comon principles that transfer well.

I have a 14x28 that i brought second hand on the breeze. These boards are well made and are designed for the ocean. great for DW or flat water training, i wont be selling this board anytime soon. IF i was getting one made for ocean down winders id definatley go a inch or so wider.

Ive had my Deep 12.6 for over a year now. It is a slighty different shape to the 14, but that is to be expected. I demo'd Deep's own 12.6, took it back and talked with Simon about some small changes I wanted (not saying I know better, just little tweaks to suit me). My bias was for in and out of the surf, so stable but still surfable. I have been 100% happy with it in every way. Finish is very high quailty. My dealings with them then and since have been very professional and im BLOODY picky.
Hopefully picking my 12'6 custom up tomorrow. Can't wait. Made some adjustments to the demo board to suit what I had in mind and Simon was more then helpful chating about the advantages and disadvantages of my ideas. It's the best thing about a custom made board, at the end of the day its tailored to you.
