Damn! I broke my Nalu in two on a shore break. Very sad day!

Hurricane Dorian left us a very clean five-foot swell here in south Florida. The wave were breaking right on the shore, so I past the break and went for a paddle. Later on I started to play on the swell without getting in the break. And later on I decide to try to catch one and bail out before it reached the shore. Shame on me! It only worked for a couple of waves. The third one caught me and my Nalu went down nose first. I don't know if it hit the sand or the pressure of the wave broke it.

I had had it for a bit more than two years, using it for surfing and touring. I really liked it.
Now I don't know if replace it with another Nalu, or get something smaller. I do some touring and paddling for fitness, but surfing is what I like the most.
My Nalu was the 2016 10'6" - 170L. I'd like to try something smaller, not sure how small without getting too small. I'm 150lbs (65kg circa). I can catch some waves, but not really good at it. We don't get good surf often here in S.Florida.

They declared a state of emergency, didn't they. Maybe you can replace it under insurance Hurricane winds will do that to a board.

The new Naish 10'6"x 32" Nalu looks awesome if you're after a replacement for your old Nalu.

If you want to go smaller consider the 9'5"x 32" Naish Mana.

I've seen many brands of boards break in shorebreaks and it's just an unlucky thing rather than a board brand thing.

At your weight I would go smaller. You can easily be on a 100 liter or so longboard. If you want to stay with Naish there are killer deals (at least in US) on 2019 Naish Nalu Pro 10 x 28.5. Much better longboard than other Nalu models or Manas if your primary focus is surfing.

Dont bother with the repair - the board will double in weight ! ...

Go narrower on next sup - will reduce the chance of shorebreak snappage - and also increase yr speed , and less pull on yr ankle washing around in waves , and less board to hit you should you be wrong place wrong time ... and you for sure at 65kg dont need 170 ltrs !! .... that would just kill any sensations of riding - put the time in and drop WAAAY lower in volume .... at least 130 ltrs ... just go way narrower if your worried about glide .. a 10 x 28.5 nalu like bigZ suggests could be an epic option ! - once you get used to the balance you will NEVER look back ...

I've had 3 Naish nalu 10/6and the 11-4,the late Harold Iggy definitely got these designs right!!!,how ever every one had construction problems/failures,so I moved on to Jimmy Lewis not a problem since, the 10 ft destroyer is amazing!!! Just saying

Here is my nalu. I waited 2 months for it to arrive when we moved overseas. When it arrived I had it on the garage floor to put the fin on. I went upstairs when I heard my wife coming home and I was too late getting to the garage. She had parked the x trail on top. The black on the fin is from the tire No real damage, just a small crack on the rail. Still paddles and surfs fine on the reefs over here.
