Hey just in the process of looking round for my first SUP. Am looking at the 12ft slim-line or the 11ft "the Jammer" from DMB based at Brunswick Heads.

Can anyone let me know how they go (to paddle and quality etc). I'm mainly wanting to go on cruising missions and maybe surf some small waves.

Cheers

Sorry mate carn't help you with those boards but if you get up to the Goldy at all call in and try a few 12 foot boards out. There are a few really good 12 ft alround boards out there but there are also more pigs than good ones so be sure to try if you can. Cheers Jacko (Roar Industries)

Hey mate - I know the boards you are talking about and they are ok at their pricepoint but I think you will find that for a few more dollars you will be far better off with something like a 2008 Naish 11.6 or a Starboard 11.2 or a new Coreban 11 cruiser. Would suggest you try these or similar boards at Roar and Greenline on the goldy before you make any decisions. There are big boards that do the job and there are big boards that really rock and you will be much happier in the long run with one that rocks trust me. the other thing you must consider is that the name brands starboard/naish/coreban etc will have immensely more resale value than a lesser known brand and even though you may pick up a cheapy for a grand or just over, it will realistically be worth a couple hundred bucks in six months and thats if you can find someone to buy it !!!
I have owned and ridden many bigger boards and those I have listed above all paddle really nice and are stable and fun and surf really well and are quality premium brand boards that will not let you down and will be a sound investment. Try as many as you can but I honestly believe you should try to stick to a well know reputable premium brand. (just my opinion)

Thanks Bill,

I've been on the Naish 11.6 and loved it. I hadn't spoken to anyone who had ridden a dmb so was wondering if they were worth looking at. Will go and have a look at the starboard and coreban.

Thanks for the reply, it makes buying the right board so much easier.

Cheers

Definately check them all out but you will find it hard to beat the 11.6 naish. If you don't mind the overall bulk of the naish you will have a ball on it and they surf unreal. If you can get a paddle on the coreban cruiser it will be a good comparison but you may find that there are a few 11.6 naishs getting about for good prices but you will not get a s/h coreban yet.
