Great looking board when are they due to hit Aus. What did they weigh in at ?

The Carbon 14 weight at a guess: 10,5Kg to 11kg

The little "lip" around the edge of the deck is quite popular at the moment.

However, I kind of think that the "lip" is so tiny that it provides almost no function... it provides almost no splash resistance, adds almost no volume to the board, but acts like a mini trip hazard on the edge.... and retains water, until the water can find its way out the back...

Yes, it sinks the deck, to reduce the "centre of gravity" of the paddler. Shave the lip off, the deck height doesn't change though...

It may add a tiny bit of strength to the middle of the board though.

Just my thoughts anyway... probably just a case of "6 of 1, half dozen of the other"...

Either way, nice boards !!

wonder what the corban alpha 14 carbon version will cost. will it have the same 'big mark' up starboard. sure carbon is dearer, but nothing like what they are charging extra for it

What sort of mark ups are you talking about? Do tell.

So long as it is not ridiculous people have got to make money at the end of the day, its a business not a hobby, but does depend on the quantum of the mark up.

I think most brands see the 14ft class being the biggest in the long run and then will come 12'6 for stuff like BOP and then unlimited. 14ft is a good size for big guys as well and DW is a bit more fun and price can be kept down a bit from the unlimited boards. I like the way the classes are taking shape.

The Angle of the pic is deceptive and the fin is not as far forward as it appears. The fin is similar in shape and size to the standard fin that comes with the Naish 14" Glide. They had two fin constructions there. The one for the pure was a "wood" and the fin for the Carbon Kevlar was a made of a light composite.

do tell- taking the p### i see.ok, lets say a new 'bog log" 14' board retails at say $2000. lets say the carbon costs $500 and i would be dam sure a bigger company would be buying carbon for a lot less than that. still pretty much the same process as a normal glass epoxy board, but the normal glass can come off the cost because it wouldn't be used. granted, not a big cost. so, the board could be retailed at $2,500 with the same margin if not more than the standard board. now if that carbon 'boglog' was selling for $3000, it's a big mark up wouldn't you say. if somebody wont to sell boards for big bucks thats fine.but this is a forum and i'm telling you there is not a $1000 worth of carbon in there

You can't reasonably compare the 14' AST with the 17' carbon with steering. Of course there's going to be a big price hike. Regardless of the extra 3 feet and the steering mechanism, carbon is substantially more expensive.

yeah,there's more to a steering setup than meets the eye,but well worth having

Jacko, when I said $3500 to be honest I had no idea of prices, I was purely guessing. I should do my research and then I would know exactly what they cost.
