Had my board on the back of my dual cab doing 100km/h and the tie down strap end/excess went inbetween the cab and the tub it wound around the tail shaft and pulled down causing the strap to pull through my board snapping it clean in half

So do I fix it myself ? I do have experience in glass composites, or do I send it away and get it professionally fixed for the 3rd of the price of a new board??????????

If I fix it myself the board would only become my kids/small day board.
Ive advanced past the board anyway and I was in the process of getting a new one!


any Ideas?????

my boards are covered under my normal household contents insurance for accedential damage anywhere in aus

IMO fix it yourself and let the kids use it.

Thanks Pete, Its looking like my insurance is going to cover it.

Just take it into a board repair shop and get it fixed should cost around the $180 to $250 mark.

You won't even see the repair if done properly , save yourself some money and remove the deck grip first . before you take it in.

Hey mate, I have had some experience in this aswell, having snapped my previous SUP twice in separate places.
Anyway I used dowel x 3 pushed inside the foam to join together the two pieces. Alignment was not a problem and I reckon I got the rocker pretty close. The biggest drawback I found was the overall increase in weight of the board when the job was completed. Perhaps I over-engineered it, but its hard to estimate how much reinforcement to use when the original surface tension(strength) has been broken.

PSH Hull ripper 9'2 or 9'7

Any other suggestions would be good

I pretty much want a board to progress/improve my surfing something that turns sharp in the pocket

I've gone past the stage of trimming and cruising up and down the wave

hi mate, ive got the 9.7 hull paddler and also have a 9.6 hull ripper demo board down here in chilly tassie. the hull ripper is the way to go i am 96kegs and been having a blast this week in small waves on the 9.6.
it paddles fast and catches waves no probs and has great glide in the fatter spots.
late drops and hollow waves this board goes even better.
