Looking for a cheap downwind board and only want to spend about $1000 so limited choice to say the least.
Basically want a paddle fitness board which will suit Perth conditions, won't to going anywhere near flat water and will defo not entering any races.
Just missed a Starboard Ace 2013 !!! but there is a JM just come up in good condition at the right price in WA.

Yes, an old Glide 12 or 14 are obvious options. Or even the 17 if you can find one at that price. How about a Starboard Coast Runner? Other options appear if you consider 12-6 boards, such as the Jimmy Lewis Albatross/Mission or even a Starboard Cruiser. The original Fanatic 12-6 might be ok as well - like many boards of that ilk it's not the easiest to get planing but it is nice and stable. More generally, you can downwind just about anything if you have the skills. Although if you are new to downwinding it is probably best to try and stay away from anything that has a flat-water displacement nose. I don't know about in Australia but in the UK most of the cheap secondhand boards are Starboards. The frequency with which Starboard change models, the price-point construction of many of their raceboards, and the love-it-or-loathe-it styling and graphics tends to mean high depreciation. So bargains are possible.
2010 14' Glide in the Breeze used race boards section. $650 with cover in NSW. Postage couldn't be much more then 350 to Perth.
My bad...even better though a carbon javelin ![]()
There's a man with a death wish. Spoken by a former owner of that model board. Beaut flatwater board though.
