Anyone ridden the C4 inflatable SUPs? We're seriously thinking about buying one, for lake, surf, and river. The 10'6" is probaly the most user-friendly but does it surf?

Cheers,

Simon

I demo'd a couple in Hawaii, the 8'1 and either the 10.0 or 10.6 (can't recall now) but was very surprised how well they paddled. I would love to try one in the surf.

I own a 9'3" Sub Vector iSUP. I got it for travel and for my family and friends to ride. In flat water, it's heaps of fun. You can do all sorts of flat water training and tricks cos it's stable, but pivots on the tail quickly due to the low surface area rubber thruster fins.

In the surf, it's a trimmer. Set the fat 50/50 rail in the face and trim in the pocket. It does flex a fair bit, making steep bumpy drops dodgy. It's so buoyant that it's very affected by wind and chop.

Gentle cutbacks and reos are possible. I'm a pretty light guy- 68kg- but i think that with so much volume and area in the tail that most people would find it hard to carve.

All up, it's a fun board that is fun on flat water and very limited in the surf... but if you're surfing small, smooth waves and content to glide, then it'll put a smile on your face.
