I like these, because they feel like a second skin. They are light, and will be perfectly warm for winter, at 2.75-3mm of rubber.

Internal split toe plus the strapping combine to create a "second skin" fitting....

Fitting guide for booties in general... try a 1/2 size or 1 size down from you normal shoe size. Big Toe should touch the end of the bootie, as opposed to "not touching the end" of a regular walking shoe.

(I have a regular sized and shaped foot - I'm normally a Size 10 shoe, and their Size 10 Bootie is the correct size for me, toe touching the end, so you might not need to "go 1 size down", which was the old school of thought for booties.).

I've never had a problem with stink foot, or stink bootie. But I hear it is common enough. Surely the anti-bacteria stuff would wear off during the first winter anyway? Probably worth investigating a product to reduce that problem if you have it.

I suspect direct sunlight would help, but you would need to turn them inside out. Miniature UV Lamp ?

It's probably just more cost effective to manufacture an internal split toe. It is just a semi stiff wetsuit wall, but it helps lock your toes into position, and obviously resists your foot from rolling sideways inside the bootie. Plus the strapping helps that also.

A little splash of vinegar in each bootie with some water gets rid of the stink but it's not permanent. You have to do it every time you use the booties.

I have tried bleach, disinfectant, air freshener. The only thing that works reliably is vinegar.

I do not normally have smelly feet and I never had the problem with booties until I got the super warm Rip Curl boots with the fleece lining ... that never dries. The older booties with just a smooth lining dry out quickly and don't smell.

The internal split toe is the go. It keeps the boot more stable. The exposed split tears around the seams.

No mention of anti-bacterial treatment. High ankle booties are hard to dry and get very stinky.

There are many ways of eliminating odour (body fats through perspiration) dont use any product containing chlorine,ie domestos or any bleaches, they will not only destroy any bacteria but also eat away at your bootie. Do use dish washing deterg or a washing powder in luke warm water. Been using these for years with success. Also good for wetsuits in general. Just make sure whatever you use rinse thoughrouly.
