Hey guys have a question for blade size and paddle length . This would be for SUP surfing specifically - I am 6'3 285lbs. Suoer new to this so looking for advice

There's no right or wrong answer here and everyone's different but IMO it's about an 8" blade width and about 6" overhead in length.

Yep, highly variable & dependant on you. I'm very close to the same dimensions as you, after a lot of experimentation I find I prefer a bigger blade (Ke Nalu Molokai) and 3-4" overhead for surf. DJ's taller and a lot leaner than me. I like how Ke Nalu and Starboard paddles feel, he likes Kialoa, everybody's a bit different.

If you're new, you might be better off with something in the range DJ suggested but you should demo a few paddles if you can to see what works for you. At your size, what the 70kg guy in the shop thinks might not be best.

And don't skimp on your paddle, buy the best one you can afford.
