Hey gang,

Just wondering what peoples opinions are on which fin is best for straight line paddling? Finding my 14' JM with the JM fin is yawing more than I'd like resulting in less strokes per side.

Looking at the FCS models. Danny Ching, Spitfire, Weed racing 10" etc...

Futures triangle cutaway(3 different sizes, eg your JM fin is 40sq" the small futures cutaway is 44sq"), futures Byron Kurt.
You can try out my triangle cutaway for a blast if you want.

Long base with some rake is the go for tracking. Larry's Gladiator or Gladiator Hybrid do the job for chop, Ninja's nice for smooth days.

I'm guessing you're not standing forward enough on the board.. Just one inch too far back can make a huge difference.

I'd pick the Danny Ching fin out of that bunch and I'm thinking the big Gladiator fin would be even better.

Definitely not standing too far back.
I like the look of the Danny Ching too. Looked up the Gladiator. That thing looks awesome!! Looks like it belongs on a battle field hacking into body parts of opposing armies... Haha

I got the True Ames SWT for paddling on the Goulburn River after damaging my other fin on rock.

An unintended consequence was better tracking with more strokes per side.

I got one of these for $20 of ebay, my daughter uses it on a 9'mctavish for flat water and works really well for paddling in a straight line, I'm no navel architect but I would think a long shallow fin like this would have less drag that a deep narrow fin and it has spring loaded ball bearings in it so it just snaps in no need to screw it down, could be a problem when they corode up thought !
