Hi everyone , looking for views on a long board for performance in small to medium waves to suit a 95kg rider! Thinking 29-30cm wide unsure of length and brand.

Can't go past the Jimmy Lewis Striker I've got the 8'9" and love mine, but a bigger bloke like you might need the 9'5"

What about one of Tully's surftech's. I think there is a 10'2". I have the 8'6" and find it to be more of a performance longboard for my 80kg's. If the stock production boards don't suit then see him about a custom as I noticed your in QLD.

You're gunna need something wider than 29-30cm..

Check out something like the new 10'6''x30'' Naish Nalu like I'm using in this vid.. I'm also 95kg.

Depends what you mean by long board. If you mean a sup that surfs like a mal, get the Laird. Brilliant board for that type of surfing. I ride the 10'6".
If you want more performance, I had a few rides on a Fanatic 9'3" prowave, then a ride on the 8'10" which was more suitable for my weight 79kg). Very cool board. The 9'3" could be an option.
Get some demo's.

Funny you should say that Sandsy. I just sold my fanatic prowave 8'10 (2013 carbon model) and bought the Jimmy Lewis Striker. The fanatic is a great surfing sup but as a mal rider I wanted a sup designed to walk around on and ride the nose but still carved off the tail ..... depends what you're after Carman. I'd reckon the JL striker would be half way between the Laird and the Fanatic.

Thanks guys, was looking for a Mal type, cross step, nose riding type board . Sounds like the stiker, laird, or the Nalu are worth looking at. Thanks for your comments.

There are basically 2 types of longboards:
- the old school that have a kind of "speed limiter" built in the shape, where the board locks in the curl and go at the same speed as the wave. Just walk to the nose and pilot from here. If you need to turn, get back, stall the board, pivot turn, and go back to nose. Fin setup is a huge single fin.
- the modern "performance" one, that goes faster than the wave, where you need to turn & cutback to stay close to the curl. Fin setup is often similar to shortboards: thruster / quad

Both can noseride, but offer different feelings and ways to ride. old school boards are easier in slow waves, modern ones in fast ones. I advise you firts determine what type you want before buying... or buy both :-)
