The 14' Naish Javelin would have to be the quickest 14 flat water board that I've ever see or paddled.. or that I even know of..

New Suplove Stingray flatwater 14 out very soon ... and ... very fast ...

This board is incredibly fast and unique in design. There is nothing like this on the water. Designed in Australia by Andrew Dovell and made in Australia.

Customs also avaiable !!!

In my limited experience I would say without doubt the Lahui Kai 14.

It's great to see 3 out of the 4 responses so far recommend local boards: Lahui Kai, DC and Suplove. I have always recommended supporting local and nothing has changed for me.

There are other factors that you should consider when doing your research - like what your weight is, what type of flatwater paddling you intend to do (racing, cruising etc), where you live and what your experience level is.

I would love to see the Starboard Ace up against any of the boards mentioned. Yes it's a canoe like sunken deck shape and it upsets some people's aesthetic sensibilities, but if the 12'6 New is anything to go by, then the 14' Ace will be a force to be reckoned with.

Would have to agree with DJ

The Naish Javelin is by far the fastest flatwwater board I have been on and have seen paddled by the sunshine coast crew.

In the latest speed series it smoked all the other boards on the market that are listed abaove. Mind you the paddler is a fast paddlers as well but so are a lot of the others who paddled.

I would not recomend it for ocean downwinding on windy days but for the river, lake or ocean on calm days I believe nothing comes close to it.

If you want to go fast in the flat then this would be my current choice.

talk of doing a flat water dc 14 at 26" or 27" from the 30" model.

when that happens look out.

my old board the red rocket is a race winner and the 15'3 i have for sale is faster then them all

i believe my new 14' er at 11 kgs ish is going to be pretty quick and is very ocean friendly

Lacey how wides the red rocket? And 15'3" thats a funny size to come up with why 15'3"?

Also have to agree the DC are really quick race boards and customs which you gotta love!
Casso 12'6" DC was the fastest flatwater board ive paddled but was really tippy in the surf as was quite narrow some thinf like casso 12'6 slightly wider would be epic.

Last month was the Coreban River Race in NSW.

In the 14ft Sprint (2.8km) 1st was a DC 14', 2nd Naish Glide, 3rd Hobie Elite. Lahui Kai, Coreban Alpha Race, C4 and Angulo all had good showings too!

red rocket-machined at 26".finished25.5" with the chines in there, for all intents and purposes, it would be 2' less.

funny story that one. when in design mode(solidworks) it was lenghten out, but was forgoten about until three were made and checked.however they went so well a few more got done before dropping the design back down to 14'. each board gets hand measured checked after that
cheers
