It has come to our attention that there seems to be way too much industry driven threads and biaised advise given on the site and obviously some people arent happy about it - and its also apparent that many dont give a rats either.
For anyone out there interested in reviews and advise from non- pros who dont "rip" and dont get off on posting endless gopro footage of themselves and have absolutely zero industry/brand/shaper affiliation then feel free to PM or post to us at tassiesup and ask all the dumb questions and board advice you want.
We aren't australias best sup'ers but we are all competant surfers and paddlers - we mostly ride a wide variety of all the latest boards on the market - we have very good relationships with local and interstate retailers and we get absolutely nothing from them other than excellent service (usually)
We all surf and paddle in different places on a variety of different sups and we constantly share our boards and our thoughts and experiances with each other.
We also mostly all have mates/ girlfriends/wives/ kids etc who are just geting into sup so we can really relate to the needs of the new sup'ers and those paddling with, and teaching them.
We get literally dozens of emails each week asking for board advice and from people just wanting to talk shlt - we just love it and love sharing our love for it.

So if theres anything you wanna know or want us to find out for you drop us a line or post your thoughts and questions.

Me? Never. But I also thought your initial question was perfectly reasonable, as well as amusing.

I rekon a good way to get info on a board, paddle etc, is to have chat whilst at the beach. Met some great people this way and made a few close friends along the way also. Its a nice way to pend time in the water waiting for the sets to come.

Can't help but think it was my recent post about my new Coreban Edge that kicked you off. You would be correct that I am bias towards my new board or I wouldn't have brought it, that much is obvious. We are all intelligent people and any reveiw is only going to reflect the bias of the reviewer weather the are affiliated to brand or not. You to will be bias towards your own preferences.

As a newbie I have searched through these forums endlessly reading reviews and gained much information that has led to a much better purchase for me. Gopro footage etc is just fun to watch. The motivation for posting my reveiw was simply to give a little back to the community out there in the hope it might help someone else.

For the record I work for an electronics manufacturer and my wife owns an optometry practice so there was no financial interest in my reveiw. Just stoked with my new board and wanted to share it.

Your heart is clearly in the right place but your comments about chest beating race board owners are divisive. I would rather encourage more reviews as they are great starting points and as I said in my post follow up with demos to form your own opinion as this matters more than any reveiw.

Mate I think you are dreaming of the 50's.

Vast majority of people on here are like minded wind, surf or sup stoked. They talk up their purchases as they believe they made a great choice. Does not mean it is the best choice for everybody.

I find it a bit weird you come on here and slag off everyone as pimps. Why not start your own pure site with only 'honest' reviewers. Like the Ke nalu board showcase back in the day.

We are not saying if you get a new board you shouldn't get on here and talk it up, what we would like you to disclose is if you have been given a good deal on the condition that you get on here and talk it up.
And then you see he post " has anyone seen one of these" by some no name and 1 comes back and tells us how great they are.

This whole thread smells like a pimp for Tassie Sup

I think the good thing about a forum like seabreeze is there is a wide variety of opinions & ideas from a wide variety of people.
Isn't it a somewhat blinkered approach to say "come to us we know best"
Where are the checks & balances & broad range of opinions in such a closeted situation.
Seems like you almost become the people you wish to oppose

Many people ask us for advice and we give it in good faith and without any favouritism towards retailers or brands - people seem to appreciate our advice and guidance - if you dont want it then dont ask for it - we have a very friendly and committed group of sup'ers down here and we are immensely proud of how the sport has grown and how close and helpful our little sup community is.

Glad you raised that Snowie, Tassiesup have always supplied the sausages and beer at their events, the only thing that we do insist on is that if you drink our beer you must use one of our complementary stubbie holders and for the record Tassiesup is not just a he, being such a large organisation it takes many more than one person to keep it going.
