Hi all, Im very new to sup and have interests in windsurfing as well (haven't tried windsurfing). Is the Ace Tec wind sup a wise choice for someone like myself?

It sounds like it ticks all the boxes except for racing as a sup (from manufacturer's charts).

What Im trying to avoid is buying a beginner board for both disciplines which I grow quickly out of and end up searching again for more advanced boards. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I'd go separate ways right from the start. Secondhand of each if you need to. But get a good paddle.

Yep, probably not a great idea to combine the two in one board. Keep each as a separate discipline. Do your SUPing in the morning when the sea is calm or with clean surf. Then in the afternoon when it is windy and choppy get some lessons or good secondhand kit. Both sports need some intensive time on the water. There is no quick fix imo.

Although I agree with both above comments - if the sup is good as a 'stand alone' sup (don't know the Ace-tec brand), then you'll find it a very easy board for learning the basics of windsurfing.. and have fun doing it.

I windsurf and sup and wouldn't buy a board that is designed to do both as it would have to sacrifice features that I find important for both disciplines. In saying that, I have a 11'4" Nalu that is a great fun board to sup and can be a bit of fun with a windsurfing rig attached. I also set it up when the kids want to have a sail.
