hi guys

im looking for a board that need to be max 9' lenght for transport /storage reasons but need to float my 95 kgs for small medium surf and a bit of flat water , any idea ? that exclude all tomo shapes i guess or performance surf orientated boards..

i was thinking naish mana 8.10 or fanatic stylemaster 9' ( im not sure about the 112 l...) or sunova speed 8.10 or flow 8.10.

Any suggestions ?

basically anything of around 120L - 130L will float you easily...

hello Anchorpoint, have a look at the new ECS Turbo sup, @ecsboards.com few different sizes and designed by Bruce McKee. l'm 97kgs I have been using the Fanatic Stubby 8'6" no drama's, good concept those wide nose parallel rail things easy to paddle and balance on, and surf as loose as any pointy nose board. Interesting use of concaves on the Turbo sup as well. G

Thanks Grasuper, the jimmy lewis seems a good idea! really a kind of all around but in a sub 9' size, i like the fanatic stuby also but not sure about his flat water paddling credentials

Thanks tardy, just not sure the pointy nose of the hokua make it a good small distance flat water , i think a more rounded nose is more of a good compromise surf/flat water.

yep, i think it is the right way to look at it in term of volume then narrow it down from the 120/130 L range

True the mana has the fatter rocker and they do flat water paddle better .super fast on a wave the 8.10.

The striker would be perfect..; flat rocker for glide... think mini mal longboard type board...

You could go a full custom Sunova ( I did ) to get exactly what you want. 15% more cost ($300) here in oz, and you get it FEDEX'd to your door in about 4 weeks.

Or try a custom Deep...

The Stubby - too much rocker IMO. Also am yet to see one that hasn't chipped heaps on the edges...

I am the Sunova Mascot/Pimp, so here's my take on some of your choices.

Either Sunova will work, surf wise and float wise.
the 8'10 Speeed will be the tippier of the 2 at 29" wide, but a better flat-water paddler.
the 8'10 Flow is stable and rips, but tends to yaw when paddling

Another Sunova that you might want to consider is the 8'10 Skate (143 liters)

I just got the 9'2 Skate (for winter) after riding the 8'8 XL and loving it. (I am 107 kg)
The Skate is awesome in small to medium surf, super stable and paddles easily.
Low rocker moves easily on small waves or flat-water.
Enough curve in the rails to turn easily, but still paddles straight.

STC didn't mansion there is a Speeed in 9.2 this board might be a perfect size as well
I'm on the same at 88 kg in choppy conditions and love the stability and the way it surfs.
